Nelleke Kuipers
My name is pronounced [Nelaka] but you can call me Nelle.
I grew up in a tiny town in the east of the Netherlands, a town where everyone knows everyone. although the music wasn’t a big part of my town, it was a big part of my family. I grew up listening to Joni Mitchell, Sting, and Bonnie Raitt, they made me find my own voice and through their music, I strongly felt what I wanted to do. Music theatre entered early on in my life and made me choose to start my professional career on a musical stage, but I never stopped writing my own music and after a few years in music theatre, it was time to explore my own artistry. This decision took me to Canada and to Berklee Valencia, in both places. I’ve been developing my own music while being influenced by the people and relationships around me.
This is where I stand right now, in front of the release of my EP and the most reflective work I’ve created so far.
